Acne, Puberty and Teenagers
Acne is an inflammatory disease of the skin. Due to changes in the skin structure, acne comes. The skin consists of hair follicles and their sebaceous glands. During puberty, acne commonly, is the body's response to changing testosterone hormones. Because of the randomness of the bodies response, acne for most people will come and go, and in most cases will completely dissappear over time. This time length is different for every individual, but is usually early twenties. There is no way for medical professionals to predict the acne time limit for an individual. Some individuals will even be affected by acne many years later, in their thirties and forties. Even, large number of people are affects by acne at some point in their life.
Although acne is not a very pleasant condition to have, it has become somewhat socially acceptable if kept under control. Common acne is the most wide spread form of acne. It is a result of naturally occurring dead skin cells blocking the hair follicles when an excessive of oil is secreted from the skin glands. Oil blocked under the skin builds up, and provides the perfect environment for bacteria to uncontrolably multiply. The Part of the infection that we are used to seeing is the visible lesion. It becomes visable as the skin inflames. Most individuals are only affected with acne on their face, but it should be noted that acne can affect on the chest, back, shoulders, among other areas of the body as well.
Generally, acne does not cause any long term medical implications. But if Acne lesions are out of control, they can lead to scars as the skin damage has been permanent.
What is more, acne is more generally associated with social implications such as low self-esteem. Adolescence is a hard stage of life for most teenagers, and the persistence of acne with our social agendas does make it more difficult.
So take acne problem seriously and treat it as soon as possible when it appears. The early care will bring you a easier and happier young stage.
